PROJECT COLLABORATIONS

Collaborative relationships have been established between Empower International and other organizations for the support of this project. A local extension officer affiliated with a faith-based organization from Australia teaches the grandparents how to grow food for themselves, chickens and other animals. TheY are taught parenting skills and how to cope with the challenges that come with raising children as older adults. Orphans are taught how to overcome the stigma and low self-esteem they feel because they are orphans. And families are taught how to care for people living with HIV/AIDS.

Empower International also collaborates with an extension officer and veterinarian from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in Kalimoni, Kenya who provide knowledge and assistance to the grandparents as they face new challenges that could arise rearing chickens such as disease, fertilization, feed, shelter, etc.
